Review:
Background
Health promotion aims to empower individuals to improve their health through social, environmental, and policy interventions. Migrant populations are disproportionately affected by health inequities, and migrant women face compounded challenges due to gender discrimination, stigmatization, and limited resources. Despite this, few health programs focus on migrant women. This scoping review aims to map and synthesize existing health promotion interventions tailored to migrant women, highlighting gaps and areas for future research.
Research Question
This review will synthesize evidence on health promotion interventions for migrant women, explore the landscape of current initiatives, and identify priorities for future research and improvements.
Methods
A comprehensive scoping review will be conducted following Joanna Briggs Institute (JBI) 2020 guidelines. We will search Medline (PubMed), Embase, Cochrane, and Web of Science, along with grey literature sources like Google Scholar, for studies published through December 2024. Eligible studies will include original research on health promotion interventions for migrant women. After removing duplicates, articles will be screened and data extracted using a customized template on Covidence. A narrative synthesis will summarize participant characteristics, intervention components, study design, and outcomes. The primary analysis will involve identifying interventional themes through content and thematic analysis.
Results
Following title and abstract review, studies will be selected for full-text review, and those that meet the inclusion criteria will be included for data extraction. Additional studies may be added through bibliographic searches. Results will be presented in tables and text, with a focus on intervention themes, target health outcomes, and effectiveness.
Conclusion
This scoping review will provide an overview of health promotion interventions for migrant women, identifying key evidence gaps and offering insights into effective strategies and areas for future research to enhance health equity for migrant women.
