Coming to Madrid

Madrid, Spain’s vibrant capital, is exceptionally well-connected both within Europe and globally, making it easily accessible for all travelers.

By Air

Adolfo Suárez Madrid–Barajas Airport (MAD) is Madrid’s main international gateway, with flights from all over the world. Transport options into the city include:

  • Metro Line 8 to Nuevos Ministerios
  • Cercanías suburban trains to major hubs like Atocha and Chamartín
  • Airport Express bus with 24/7 service to Atocha
  • Taxis and ride-hailing services available outside each terminal

By Train

Madrid is a central hub in Spain’s high-speed rail network. AVE trains connect Madrid to Barcelona in 2.5 hours, Seville in 2.5 hours, Valencia in under 2 hours, and many other cities. International trains also connect Madrid with Lisbon and Paris. Main stations are Atocha and Chamartín.

By Car

Madrid sits at the heart of Spain’s motorway network, with the A-2, A-3, A-4, A-5, and A-6 highways connecting the capital to the rest of the country. Several ring roads (M-30, M-40, M-45, M-50) make driving connections smooth. Visitors should be aware of Madrid Central, a low-emission zone with traffic restrictions in the inner city.

By Bus

Madrid is served by extensive coach connections to Spanish regions and international destinations. The main hubs are Estación Sur (Méndez Álvaro) and Intercambiador de Avenida de América.
